For a Paternity Test to be court admissable the sample collection needs to follow a strict chain of custody procedure. The samples need to be collected by a qualified medical professional who will be responsible for authenticating the samples and sending them directly to the laboratory. If this procedure is followed correctly the result should be admissable in a court of law.
The accuracy of the test does not change and is 100% conclusive for an exclusion of the alleged father and greater than 99.99% for inclusion.

DNA Siblingship analysis can be used to determine whether two alleged siblings are biologically related or not, specifically when the sample of the parent (s) is not available. The test can be used to determine if siblings are either full or half siblings or not related at all. The inclusion of one common parent will greatly increase the accuracy of the final result and is strongly recommended where possible.
The type of test is recommended where the alleged siblings are not of the same sex (for males see Y Chromosome Test, for females see X Test) or where two females have the same mother but the mother's sample is not available for testing.

This is is normally used to determine the biological link between a child and the relatives from the paternal side when the DNA of the alleged father is unavailable.
It is important to understand that, unlike the direct relationship between a parent and a child where the parent gives half his genes to the child, in the case grandparents they will only have one quarter of the genes in common. Therefore this test result cannot be as accurate as a straightforward DNA paternity testing but it can provide a strong indication of the alleged familial relationship.

Y-STR Male Lineage DNA test is used to determine if two males share the same paternal lineage. The Y chromosome is inherited and passed on from father to son through the generations. Since it has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, it will therefore remain the same through many generations.
The test will analyse the Y chromsome of each male submitted for testing, and will generate a unique Y-STR profile for each person. The result are then compared, and if the profiles are the same then the males will be from the same lineage.

X chromosome testing is helpful in the case where two women believe they share the same Father. Each female has two X chromosomes, one that was inherited from the Mother and the other that was inherited from the father. This test can be used to determine whether two or more people are related through their maternal lineage, or if male and/or female children have the same biological mother. The test is based on the Mitochondrial DNA sequence variation that is passed from females to their siblings. Since this has a relatively infrequent mutation rate, it will remain the same through various generations. Males do not pass the X-SV they inherited from their mother to their children.
