Sibling DNA tests are the most reliable means of determining whether two alleged siblings are in fact biological siblings. We recommend you do a siblings test when it is not possible to do a paternity DNA test or Maternity DNA test. If you do chose to do a siblings test, we would often encourage another parent to be tested alongside the siblings.
A DNA sibling test is used to determine the relationship between two alleged siblings to their parent without in fact testing the DNA of the parent. This means that a sibling test done without the DNA of parent from whom the genetic material was inherited provides different inclusion rates than a paternity test.
Whatever you case is there is a DNA sibling’s test that can be done. The objectives of a DNA siblings test is to establish whether two or more siblings share the same parents making them full siblings, or share just a single parent and are therefore, just half siblings. The final possibility is that the test will establish that you are not siblings at all, thus, sharing neither parent.
We offer 4 types of siblings test and we strongly recommend you access the links provided to get a better understanding which of the following test is more suitable to your requirements:
-
STR testing: if brother and sister want to know if they share a parent;
-
X-chromosome testing: if two sisters of different mothers want to know if they share the same father;
-
- MtDNA testing: if individuals want to know if they share the same maternal line.
